Dell supports healthcare with Intel-powered tablet

As the 2015 target date for achieving the Millennium Development Goals( MDGs) approaches with  wide debate as to what development goals the global community should set next especially on health, leading computer manufacturers, Dell,   has embarked on a transformation agenda with the launch of its new Intel-powered tablet for healthcare system.

The new Intel-powered tablet was launched  last week in Lagos during a conference set up to facilitate the engagement of industry leaders and experts.

For one thing, the conference sought to explore the way forward with information technology and its application to healthcare within the Nigerian context to meet the needs of its citizens.

With the new solution, the hardware maker seeks to enhance the use of technology in healthcare by introducing a new dimension to healthcare products and services that make for better diagnosis and treatment, better communication with patients, linking doctors with other doctors and generally enabling healthy living.

At a discussion  during the launch of the product,  the Client Product Marketing Manager of Dell, Annie Odo Effiong during the plenary session said that it was necessary to highlight the current perspectives in innovative technology towards improving healthcare solutions and increasing business growth and healthcare development.

“For more than 28 years, Dell has empowered countries, communities, its customers and indeed people everywhere to use technology in the realization of their dreams. Today, we celebrate the launch of the Dell tablet with Intel inside that will deliver technology solutions in healthcare anywhere, any day.” She explained.

Speaking on Intel’s mobility solutions, the Market Development Manager, Intel Corporation, Olufemi Babajide explained that Intel, more than driving PC technology,  was keen on enhancing user experience of mobile technology in every field of endeavor.

He assured that Intel-powered devices strengthen information security thereby enhancing  doctor/patient interaction.

In healthcare settings,  he said that mobile technology can encourage collaborative workflows, thereby enhancing patient outcomes, adding that Intel powers the next generation of Ultrabooks, tablets, devices, and smart phones in the hospital, clinic, and home.
